Five Oaks, is a neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio that reduced their crime rate by creating cul-de-sacs and eliminating through traffic to better create a sense of community. Oscar Newman was the planner who developed this design solution.

In Seattle, traffic circles have been used to reduce accidents.

In Vermont, traffic circles have been used to keep traffic flowing faster than with traffic lights, and also provide some open space.

The University of Connecticut maintains a web site about historic and cultural preservation.

Scenic America is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the scenic character of America's communities and countryside.
