Meetings for New Parks Plan
The DeKalb County Department of Parks and Recreation will conduct a
series of countywide meetings to engage citizens in a plan to develop
a new vision and framework to improve DeKalb's parks and recreation
system.
The meetings will provide an overview of key issues related to the
existing park and recreation system including current inventory,
customer survey responses and also solicit input from the community
on developing goals and priorities.
All meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., on the following dates:

Possible New Cities in DeKalb
In Fulton County, Sandy Springs incorporated as a city after a change
in state law allowed cities to be created within 3 miles of an existing city.
After the incorporation of Sandy Springs, various suggestions have been made for
new cities in DeKalb.
Suggestions have been made for a city of Dunwoody. Citizens for Dunwoody web site
organized by State Senator Dan Weber. The Citizens for Dunwoody site includes a proposed
map for the City of Dunwoody.
Suggestions have been made for a city of DeKalb. Several newspaper articles discuss the

There are two development overlay districts proposed for the current
zoning cycle, one for the Brookhaven MARTA area
and one for Emory Village.

The ARC is working on a 6 year Transportation Improvement Plan for the
Atlanta area.

MARTA is considering a belt-line rail path around downtown, as well as north-south and east-west expansions.
